Stop Of Motorist Driving With Flat Tire On Route 7 Leads To DUI Charge, Wilton Police Say

Wilton Police charged a local man with DUI and traffic violations after he allegedly drove on a flat tire.

Police said that on Monday, May 13 at 3:30 p.m. they conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Subaru Forrester traveling north on Danbury Road in the area of Old Mill. 

The vehicle was stopped because the driver was driving on a severely flat tire, said police.

Wilton Police identified the driver as Gilberto Morales, 43, of Wilton.

When contact was made it was allegedly determined Morales appeared to be under the influence.

Wilton Police performed the standardized field sobriety tests on Morales who did not perform them to standard, according to Wilton Police.

Morales was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, unsafe tires, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
